DHS Secretary Designates Haiti for TPS for 18 Months

Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas announced a new 18-month designation of Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), enabling Haitian nationals and individuals without nationality who last resided in Haiti who are currently residing in the United States as of May 21, 2021, to file initial applications for TPS as long as they meet eligibility requirements.


Further details will soon be published in a Federal Register notice. In other TPS news, an advance copy was made available of a notice designating Burma for TPS for 18 months, from May 25, 2021, through November 25, 2022. The Burma notice will be published in the Federal Register on May 25th.
