Herbert A. Weiss

Herbert A. Weiss has practiced immigration and nationality law since his admission to the bar in 1976. He has been a member of the firm since 1979.

He received a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University (1973) and a Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law (1976). Mr. Weiss has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) serving on various national committees. He served as Chair of AILA’s New York Chapter in 1989 -1990.

Mr. Weiss is an expert in employment-based immigrant visa law. He has published seven articles on employment-based immigration in Immigration Briefings. He is the author of “The I-140 Book” dealing with the processing of employment-based immigrant visa petitions. His most recent article “The Diversity Lottery: Keeping the Dream Alive” will soon be available on AILA’s Infonet Library. For many years he served as an AILA mentor on matters dealing with employment-based immigration. 

Mr. Weiss served on Westlaw’s Immigration Advisory Board. He is a member of Scribes, the American Society of Writers on legal Subjects. 

Martindale-Hubbell has given Mr. Weiss an “AV” rating, reserved for attorneys with the “highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards.” 

Mr. Weiss is a published poet and in his spare time, an avid golfer.
